About the Colorado Psychiatric Society

CPS is a district branch of the American Psychiatric Association with approximately 450 psychiatrists who practice throughout the state of Colorado. Our members are physicians who have completed medical school and a psychiatric residency program. Some have received additional training in areas such as child psychiatry, geriatrics, forensics, or addictions.

CPS takes part in activities such as: legislative and lobbying efforts; advocacy for the welfare of patients in the public and private sectors; educational meetings; public information projects directed toward students, the media and the general public; investigation into ethics complaints; informing members of current issues through our newsletter and other correspondence; responding to needs in our community including disaster preparedness; participating in coalitions with other mental health organizations and consumer groups; and providing leadership in areas of concern to our members.

Mission Statement
